Donuts, Flags and Garbage

I believe this series of color film photos were the beginning (early 2022) of my fascination with the unnoticed, uncared-for, and forgotten elements of city life. With Covid-19 continuing but momentarily ebbing, I found myself wanting to get out more and mix with life in San Francisco and I encounter views of people, shops, graffiti, colors, food, garbage, and of course homelessness. I try to capture it all. I am bashful about shooting strangers but I do it from across the street or in window reflections. This collection is just my way of looking at “things in the street” – the beauty, sadness, humor, awkwardness, and everyday reality.
